SUMMARY:

The Director of Product is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing the end-to-end product development lifecycle for ABOUT’s suite of solutions which support and enable patient transitions in their healthcare journey. This role will be accountable for driving the product vision, strategy, and roadmap ensuring successful product launches and growth and aligning them with ABOUT’s strategic goals and customer needs. The scope of responsibility and influence involves leading the product team and driving cross-functional collaboration with engineering, client success, clinical, marketing, and sales teams to ensure the delivery of innovative, high-quality products that complement the Electronic Health Record, enhance healthcare delivery, improve patient care transitions, and streamline operations for healthcare providers. The ideal candidate has a collaborative and inclusive leadership style that empowers teams, a passion for improving healthcare through technology and innovation, and has strong problem-solving skills with a customer-centric mindset.

The Director of Product will be instrumental in driving the success of ABOUT Healthcare’s products, ensuring they deliver value to users and contribute to improving the broader healthcare ecosystem. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on the healthcare industry while leading a talented and passionate product team.

**This role is based in our St. Paul MN office and requires an in-office presence 3-4 days a week.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Product Strategy and Vision: Define the full product vision, strategy, and long-term roadmap in alignment with business objectives, user needs, and industry trends. Continuously evaluate the healthcare market to identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation.

Leadership and Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of product manager, product owners, and cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability. Ensure that teams are focused on the right priorities and efficiently execute on the product strategy.

Customer-Centric Design: Champion a customer-first approach by gaining deep insights into the needs of healthcare providers, administrators, patients, and other stakeholders. Lead efforts to collect feedback and use data to drive product decisions that enhance user experience and patient care.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with engineering, sales, marketing, client success, clinical and implementation teams to ensure seamless product development and launch. Act as the bridge between technical leaders and non-technical stakeholders, translating market and customer needs into actionable product features.

Product Lifecycle Management: Oversee the full product portfolio and lifecycle, from ideation and design to development, testing, launch, and continuous improvement. Ensure the product aligns with regulatory requirements and complies with relevant healthcare industry standards (e.g., HIPAA, FDA, HITRUST, etc.).

Market and Industry Knowledge: Stay current with the evolving healthcare landscape, including regulations, technologies, and market trends. Understand the competitive landscape and ensure the product remains positioned as a leader in the healthcare software market.

Stakeholder Communication: Communicate product updates, vision, and strategy to internal and external stakeholders, including executive leadership, cross-functional teams, customers, and partners.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Need to Have:

Bachelor’s degree in relevant healthcare, business or equivalent. Prefer a Master's (or comparable advanced) degree in Business, Healthcare Administration or related field.

Minimum of 10 years of prior product management with a significant portion spent in healthcare technology or software.

Previous experience in a leadership role, ideally as a Director of Product or Senior Manager of Product.

Strong technical acumen to understand and communicate product development requirements.

Nice to Have:

Prior experience working in a private equity-funded, emerging growth organization.

Experience working with healthcare providers, payers, or patients is highly preferred.

Familiarity with agile methodologies and software development processes is a plus.

Required Knowledge and Skills

Required Knowledge:

Experience in various aspects of healthcare, such as hospital administration, health plan operations, outpatient services, ambulatory care, value-based reimbursement

Exceptional project management capabilities, with a track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time

Strategic thinker, enterprise mind set

Required Skills:

Demonstrated strong administrative leadership and senior management experience

Experience managing both indirectly and directly across multiple teams and stakeholders

Must possess political savvy, ability to function effectively in the face of ambiguity and excellent relationship-building skills

Superior leadership, organizational, analytical, oral and written communication, presentation, interpersonal skill to facilitate effective relationships inside and outside of ABOUT

Experience in planning and leading strategic initiatives

Highly organized and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and take initiative

Analytical mindset, with the ability to leverage data and insights to drive decision-making and optimize partnership performance

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment

Proven ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment

Travel as needed to support company and customer initiatives. Work on Site at our St Paul office may be required and ABOUT reserves the right to change the location of the role at any time.
