About the Position

Old Mission Capital LLC is looking for a Database Engineer with exceptional database and SQL skills. You will be a foundational piece of our team while having direct ownership over new and exciting projects. You will develop, support, and improve mission-critical databases that drive our current success and pave the path for continued growth. You will also work with quants, traders, engineers, business, and research teams to enhance our existing databases and make them more robust and scalable.

Responsibilities

Managing and supporting all firm critical SQL databases.

Performing all database management responsibilities for production and non-production workloads, with emphasis on task automation.

Troubleshooting, resolution, and root cause analysis for database and application-specific incidents.

Performing data modeling, schema design, testing, capacity planning, and change control management tasks.

Executing database base lining, benchmarking, performance analysis, and tuning.

Working with engineering colleagues to create and execute project plans in line with customer expectations and company strategic goals.

Executing database backup and recovery operations, replication, patching, upgrades, and implementation of security policies.

Profiling and performance tuning of new and existing stored procedures.

Creating and maintaining ETL jobs for new and existing data sources.

Identifying and implementing performance improvements.

Supporting and managing database projects alongside our Senior DBA.

Required Skills

BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field preferred.

2 years minimum of DB experience

Experience with optimizing hardware resources, database replication and other high availability solutions

Experience working in a 24/7/365 operation

Excellent Linux & scripting skills. Python is a plus.

In-depth knowledge of SQL, and database products (Postgres, MySQL, Oracle, Sybase, etc.)

Experience with ETL and database monitoring tools.

Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.

Must be able to work in a collaborative team while having ownership over new and exciting projects.

Someone who can work in a fast-paced industry and has exceptional problem-solving ability.

Experience building data pipelines for research infrastructure in any industry would be optimal.

SQL and DBA certifications are nice to have.

Base Salary Range

$150,000 - $225,000 - Salaries are based on numerous factors such as skills, experience, and education. Our compensation package also includes a discretionary bonus and a comprehensive benefits program for full-time employees. For more information, reach out to your recruiter.
