About the program

Wellways Australia is the first point of contact for all Australian Government Carer Gateway funded services, aiming to help carers access practical information and advice and connect with services in their local area. Carer supports and services are delivered to those who provide a caring role to someone in their life who has a disability, mental health issue, chronic health condition, terminal illness or are frail aged.

About the opportunity

Working as our Intake and Registration Officer, you will be responsible for undertaking intake and registration services for carers accessing support provided by the Carer Gateway. Your primary focus in this role, will be to work with carers mainly over the phone, to access information and complete the intake and registration process.

Some of your daily duties will include:

Support carers with a high level of customer service ensuring carers are listened to with patience and non-judgement

Provide Intake and Registration services to carers as outlined in the Carer Support Framework

Creating an environment which carers will find welcoming, real and inclusive

Develop support relationships with carers which are positive and are built on Wellways value

Providing information to carers on the process for intake needs assessment and planning, and available supports

Scheduling assessment and planning appointments for Carer Support Workers

To be successful in this role, you will need:

Qualifications and/or experience working in community services, allied health, administration or carer/family peer positions

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Right to work within Australia

Current valid Driver’s Licence and the ability to undertake some travel

NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate

Satisfactory National Police Records Check (must be no more than 12 months old)

NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children's Check
