Reports To: Maintenance Manager
Status: Salary/Exempt
Supervises: Maintenance Team
General Description: The Maintenance Supervisor manages, directs, and coordinates overall plant maintenance operations as directed by senior level management. This position is responsible for anticipating and meeting the Ellsworth Creamery’s evolving needs and objectives for maintenance support. The Maintenance Supervisor is a key member of the team and provides leadership to employees by fostering an environment of trust and open communications, developing future talent, and ensuring achievement of safety, food safety, and quality. This role ensures all facets of maintenance are completed including necessary record keeping and reporting. Role is expected to function within maintenance budget guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
· Will need to be hands on fixing equipment at the facility, these include but are not limited to mechanical, pneumatics, PLC, electrical, robotics etc. while training and mentoring others.
· Maintains communication between all the Cooperative’s departments.
· Strong Leadership with all employees at Ellsworth location.
· Assist in the development and implementation of processes and policies within maintenance.
· Plan, assign and direct the work of subordinate staff for the achievement of maintenance operation goals and objectives.
· Implement a maintenance software system to organize and provide program level data to leverage for efficiency and resource management.
· Develop and manage department budgets to meet or improve upon budgeted targets.
· Provide ongoing communication of depts. performance toward its key measures to executive management.
· Lead, coach and mentor direct reports in alignment with business objectives and required staff development
· Evaluate and appraise employees’ performance and follow-up with proper documentation.
· Administer and document disciplinary procedures, both verbal and written, when necessary.
· Critical thinker and able to be a forward planner
· Must be able to manage in a union environment.
· Work with Environmental Health & Safety, Human Resources and Quality Assurance to ensure that all plants are operating in compliance with customer and government regulations. (USDA, State, FDA, OSHA, SQF)
· Use P&L results and key performance indicators to improve plant performance and profitability.
· Assist in breakdowns and emergency repairs
· As needed, may support multiple sites/plants
· Role will be aligned to a “regular” shift but must be available on an “on-call” or as needed basis for urgent or emergency issues.

Requirements
Required (Basic) Education / Experience/ Competencies and Other Skills:
· A minimum of 5-7 years of job-related experience in the dairy industry.
· 3-5 years of previous leadership experience
· Above average communication skills include written, verbal and computer programs knowledge.
· Above average organizational and interpersonal skills.
· Unquestionable Integrity
· Detail Minded
· Broad technical knowledge of maintenance software
· Ability to manage competing priorities
· Proficient in or seek to become proficient in Welding, Installation, CIP’s, Robotics, Diagnostics, PLC, Electrical – 3 phrase and control power, Pneumatic, Steam/ boilers
· Strong computer skills and competent work within Office 365 and email
Preferred Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree with advanced knowledge of Food or Dairy manufacturing maintenance preferred
Physical Demands:
· Ability to lift objects weighting a minimum of 50pounds
· Ability to operate normal office equipment
· Must hold a valid Driver’s License
· Extensive use of Computers
· Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol screen as well as a general background check.
Work Environment / Environment Condition:
· Dairy Plant environment with multiple level plants
· Working hours will vary depending on need
· Food plant environment. Must adhere to all food and plant safety policies and regulations.
· All weather conditions, temperatures and dry or wet.
