Position Function:
Manages the research operation and activities of the College of Veterinary Medicine. This position will have a dotted line reporting relationship to the CVM Fiscal Officer for matters related to financial management, budgeting, and resource accountability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Manages administrative and daily operations of the College Veterinary Medicine research program.
2. Management of research staff, which includes work allocation, training, and problem resolution.
3. Approve and monitor research budget expenditures; provide status reports on al CVM research accounts; assist with preparation and approve budgets for extramural grants and contracts; manage CVM research accounts. Provide assistance in developing annual operating budgets and retain accountability for proper management of resources.
4. Serve as manager of the research program, which includes overseeing student and employee time clock system.
5. Serve as a staff liaison between the CVM research program and various university offices.
6. Manage tuition and fees for graduate students on stipends.
7. Participate in college-wide business activities.
8. Prepare and submit reports to proper requesting personnel and agencies about the CVM research program.
9. Supervise inventory procedures for the CVM research program.
10. Manage and maintain service contracts for CVM research equipment.
11. Assist in establishing and implementing short- and long -term goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
12. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Biological Sciences or a related field. 3-5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience or knowledge of federal agency requirements related to grant applications, university fund accounting, and human resource systems. Familiarity with science/veterinary research.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of program and/or research area related to the position, research implementation, and accounting principles and practices.

• Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
