Job Description
Job Brief: We are seeking a skilled Fiber Optic Splicer to join our team. The Fiber Optic Splicer will be responsible for the installation, splicing, testing, and repair of fiber optic cables. This includes reading, creating, and maintaining splicing schematics and diagrams; maintaining control of outside plant (OSP) activities surrounding the assigned work site(s), and taking and maintaining accurate splicing and field notes.
Responsibilities:
Read and interpret work orders, plans, and specifications to understand the layout and installation of fiber optics systems.
Splice fiber optic cables including both loose tube and ribbon optic cables.
Conduct tests to ensure the performance of the optical fibers.
Perform regular inspections of the fiber optic systems and perform necessary maintenance.
Accurately troubleshoot and repair fiber networks.
Ensure all installations meet quality and safety standards.
Maintain accurate records of completed and pending jobs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Reading and interpreting network installation blueprints and splice schedules.
Splicing, testing, and repairing fiber optic cables to ensure optimal network performance.
Operating specialized equipment and vehicles necessary for fiber optic splicing.
Installing and maintaining network systems for residential and commercial facilities.
Performing end-to-end fiber tests with OTDR’s, power meters, and light sources.
Adhering to industry safety standards and protocols during all installations and repairs.
Documenting and reporting on completed installations and any irregularities or issues.
Providing technical support and troubleshooting network issues as required.
