Job purpose
The purpose of this position is to maintain order on the shop floor and to provide feedback to the Production Manager as needed. With orders and priorities constantly changing, it is imperative that the shop foreman steers their employees in the right direction to meet production needs quickly and accurately.
Duties and responsibilities
Clearly communicate production needs and priorities to the mill operators based on information given by Production Manager
Provide employee reviews and feedback to mill operators
Ensure CNC operators are adhering to their specified duties and responsibilities, and performing all checks and inspections on production parts
Fill out write-up sheets and conduct corrective counselling sessions as needed
Assist CNC operators in making corrections to programs and troubleshooting discrepancies found with production parts
Develop cleaning and maintenance schedules for CNC mills and shop areas
Set up CNC mills for new parts, dialing in programs to ensure 100% accuracy (Mainly HAAS CNC’s)
Change/adjust tools and fixtures
Order tools, tool holders, collets, coolant, and other shop items as needed
Re-arrange CNC mill operator schedules as needed to accommodate time off requests while maintaining maximum production levels
Adjust programs to fill custom orders, adding or removing features from the standard model based on customer requests
Be able to read prints and edit existing code as needed
Pass on cycles times to Production Manager for each product to compute manufacturing costs
Assist with prepping chip roll-offs for pickup
Perform maintenance tasks on all shop equipment as needed, preventative or corrective
Schedule outside contractors for machine maintenance when necessary
Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing varying tasks as needed
Qualifications
Proficient with common hand and power tools
Mechanically inclined is a plus
Knowledge of measurement techniques utilizing calipers, micrometers, etc.
Ability to communicate clearly and work well with others
Proficient with computers
Using word, excel, printing docs, etc.
Experience with the AR-15 platform is preferred but not required
Forklift experience a plus, all employees will be trained/certified by NFA
Must be able to pass a drug/alcohol test at any given time
Working conditions
40+ hour work week
May be required to work nights and/or weekends as company needs dictate
Must be able to work in extreme hot or cold conditions as climate control of NFA manufacturing is limited
The shop can be loud when multiple machines are running. Hearing and eye protection are provided for your use
Physical requirements
Must be able to lift boxes of parts or machine parts weighing approx. 75+ lbs
May be required to use a pallet jack to move/rearrange pallets weighing upwards of 1000+ lbs
Empty trash cans into dumpster
Climb ladders to perform cleaning and maintenance tasks as needed
