Encadria Staffing Solutions, A Georgia Pacific company is seeking a Research and Development Engineering Intern to support Georgia-Pacificâ s Building Products Innovation Center in Decatur, GA. The Research and Development Engineering Intern will play a crucial role in assisting with the design and construction of equipment to bolster GP's R&D and Technical Support capabilities. What You Will Do
Leading an independent design project, from concept through to implementation, under the guidance of senior engineers.
Conducting research to inform design decisions and ensure alignment with industry standards, company standards, and project specifications.
Creating design drawings and technical documentation for your project.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to refine designs and ensure successful project integration.
Constructing prototypes and models to test and evaluate design concepts, documenting results and iterations.
Presenting project updates and receiving feedback during regular design reviews with the engineering team.
Engaging with cross-functional teams to align design objectives with project goals and timelines.
Utilizing Microsoft Office tools to prepare project reports and communicate progress effectively.
Who You Are
Basic Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a university program studying Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Materials Engineering, Biomedical Engineering focused on design, or Industrial Design.
Knowledge and experience with CAD
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Reliable transportation to ensure consistent attendance.
What Will Put You Ahead?
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a laboratory setting or with experimental research projects.
Familiarity with CAD software and basic design principles. (Solidworks, Fusion360)
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel and Word.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Experience in a competitive engineering challenge (FRC, FASE, Baja SAE, Alka-Rockets, etc.).
A personal project portfolio showcasing your design and engineering skills.
