Job Description
The primary responsibility is to manage the daily operations of the food service establishment. This includes overseeing the preparation of meals, ensuring food safety regulations are adhered to, and managing the food service staff. The supervisor must complete a food service orientation training that provides an overview of food service in adult care homes, including the preparation of therapeutic diets, established by the Department or an equivalent that contains at least the same information as required in the training approved by the Department within 30 days of hire.
Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day operations of the food service at the facility
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations of the Department
Manage budget and financial planning
Develop and implement creative and innovative menus based on clients likes
Maintain inventory of food and supplies according to the Department (3- day and 5-day rule)
Overseeing and coordinating the preparation of food and beverages for residents. This includes preparing 3 meals each day including choices of 3 snacks per day for residents based on their diets
Must prepare all menus at least 1 week in advance with serving quantities. Menus must be posted and visibly seen in the kitchen
Ensuring compliance with health and food safety standards
Develop and plan menu for all therapeutic diets and have them approved by a licensed dietitian/nutritionist
Conducting regular inspection of the kitchen, dining areas, to ensure cleanliness and compliance with safety regulations
Managing and training kitchen staff, and other employees
Qualifications
Proven work experience in food service management
Excellent communication skills
Knowledge of food safety regulations
High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience in Hospitality/Restaurant Management a plus or proven work history and experience in a facility is required.
Able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
