Job Summary: Technical Lab Supervisor
Location: Rural Oregon
Position Overview: The Technical Lab Supervisor reports to the Director of Outpatient Services and is responsible for overseeing technical and scientific operations within the laboratory, including microbiology and point-of-care services. This role involves performing a wide range of laboratory tests, troubleshooting issues with specimens and instrumentation, and collaborating with various healthcare staff to ensure quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct and interpret laboratory tests across multiple disciplines (e.g., blood banking, chemistry, hematology).
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring compliance with quality control and regulatory standards.
Analyze test results and solve unexpected problems independently.
Train laboratory and clinical staff on equipment and procedures.
Maintain documentation for staff competencies and quality control.
Ensure the laboratory is always survey-ready and follows safety protocols.
Share 24-hour on-call responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in a relevant science or medical technology field.
Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or equivalent certification; Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) certification with the ability to obtain MLS within one year.
At least 4 years of general lab experience, including 2 years in high-complexity testing.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively at all organizational levels.
Preferred Qualifications:
ASCP Specialty board certification(s) in Chemistry and/or Blood Banking.
Availability to work five shifts per week, including some weekends.
