Job Title: Site Superintendent

Objective:

We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and deadline-driven Construction Superintendent to lead the field operations of our multi-family apartment construction projects. This pivotal role emphasizes field leadership, operational excellence, site safety, and timely project execution.

Key Responsibilities

1. Field Operations & Execution (40%)

Lead day-to-day on-site construction activities for multi-family apartment building projects.

Ensure all materials, labor, equipment, and inspections align with project schedules and budgets.

Troubleshoot field issues and maintain efficient site logistics.

Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

Enforce compliance with construction plans, specifications, and project timelines.

2. Leadership & Team Development (25%)

Supervise and support foremen, team leads, and subcontractors.

Mentor and train field personnel; conduct performance reviews and provide coaching.

Foster a positive, respectful, and collaborative work environment.

Promote accountability, teamwork, and leadership development among field staff.

3. Safety & Quality Control (20%)

Ensure strict adherence to OSHA and company safety protocols on all job sites.

Conduct regular safety meetings, toolbox talks, and site inspections.

Monitor and enforce high standards of construction quality and workmanship.

Cultivate a culture of safety and quality across all teams and job sites.

4. Communication & Documentation (15%)

Maintain accurate daily logs, punch lists, DNR reports, equipment logs, and other jobsite records.

Provide regular progress updates to Project Managers and internal stakeholders.

Participate in project meetings and ensure cross-departmental transparency and coordination.

Support close-out processes, inspections, and jobsite walks.

Assist estimating and business development teams during preconstruction and bidding as needed.

Offer constructive feedback for continuous improvement in construction operations.

Ideal Candidate

Proven experience overseeing multi-family apartment building construction.

Strong knowledge of construction methods, safety regulations, and building codes.

Demonstrated leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills.

Proficient in construction management software and field reporting systems.

Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

Requirements

Education & Experience

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field, or equivalent education and experience

Minimum 5+ years of experience in a construction leadership role

3+ years of proven supervisory or team leadership experience

Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation to and from job sites

OSHA 30 Certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire

Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes, including the ability to interpret and ensure code compliance for single-family homes and multi-residential projects

In-depth understanding of construction quality control practices, site inspections, and proper documentation

Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, and specifications

Experience with construction scheduling software and Microsoft Office applications

Knowledge of safe operating practices for construction equipment and ability to identify maintenance issues

Strong planning and organizational skills, including design execution, resource allocation, and contingency planning

Excellent communication, problem-solving, time management, and decision-making abilities

Ability to adjust priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic construction environment

Preferred:

Advanced degree in Construction Management or related field

8+ years of superintendent-level experience in residential or commercial construction

Certifications in Telehandler and/or Aerial/Boom Lift Operation

CPR/First Aid certified

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

Ability to stand and walk for long periods (up to 10 hours/day)

Frequent bending, kneeling, twisting, crouching, and crawling

Ability to climb ladders and work at various heights

Comfortable working on multi-story buildings and active construction sites

Regular 45–50 hour work week, with flexibility to work extended hours when required

Work Environment

This position is based on active construction sites and involves exposure to a variety of weather conditions. The role may include working in dusty, noisy environments and navigating uneven terrain or incomplete structures. Candidate must be comfortable working on multi-story buildings and maintaining safety compliance in all conditions.

Special Requirements

Regular travel is required (in-state and occasionally out-of-state as business expands)

May require overnight stays near job sites depending on project location

Must be able to manage multiple job sites and travel between them daily as needed

Must be willing to work occasional evenings or weekends based on project deadlines or emergencies
