RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop, prepare and teach a comprehensive job readiness curriculum for participants of the program as they navigate their new environment

Contribute towards the ongoing development and quality of services provided

Through high-quality instruction and engagement motivate and inspire participants to achieve employability skills needed in the workplace.

Utilize adaptative learning resource techniques, including on-line platforms to meet the varied needs of participants

Identify and assess goals for self-sufficiency, and provide training in interviewing skills, computer literacy, life skills, pre-vocational/career transition opportunities, quality resumes, difficult interviewing questions and other barriers to obtaining & retaining employment.

Support participants in their pursuit of career readiness, connect them with vital services, and other services essential for integration into the workforce. Coordinate efforts both externally and intra-agency.

Demonstrated ability to work with underserved and specialized populations (i.e. immigrant, migrants, asylee populations, etc.)

Must be reliable, able to multi-task and flex schedule based upon program needs.

Adhere to the agency and funder policies, principles, and procedures

Ensure program meets contractual goals and reporting requirements.

Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of one year of applicable and/or equivalent experience

Professional experience working with the Haitian and Venezuelan population is a plus.

Bilingual Haitian-Creole/French and Spanish proficiency is a plus.

Ability to read, write and speak multiple languages is a plus.

Excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail

Ability to handle multiple tasks/situations simultaneously in a complex environment.

Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Must be culturally sensitive and respectful of diverse backgrounds, self-motivated and able to handle sensitive client information confidentially.

Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, etc.)

Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English language is required.

Authorization to work in the United States for any employer is mandatory

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.

Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.

Ability to climb five flights of stairs, if required to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork.

Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.

Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.

Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.
