Group Home-Direct Service Professional

We are looking for caring, creative, and energetic individuals to provide individualized services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a group home environment consisting of 2-3 clients.

MSSCA is a local non-profit that has been serving the Mat-Su Valley community since 1985. Direct Service Professionals (DSP) at MSSCA receive extensive paid training, great job benefits, and the chance to make a lasting difference in someone's life.

As a Group Home DSP, you will have the opportunity to:

Care for the health, safety, and welfare of individuals we serve.

Help expand the freedom and independence of individuals while developing lasting relationships with other members of the community.

Travel around the valley, in personal or agency vehicles, to provide needed support for individual's activities.

Become a frontline journalist by documenting an individual's personal growth.

Help and support individuals with their banking, budgeting, and other financial needs.

Be a mentor, friend, and cheering advocate.

Work 12 or 24 hours shifts for 2-3 days in a row.

Hours of Work: Full-Time Position. Day and Overnight 12 or 24 hour shifts available.

12 hour shifts typically 6:00 - 6:00 AM/PM but will vary with needs of the Group Home. Shifts consist of 8 hours straight time and 4 hours overtime.

24 hour shifts consist of 8 hours straight time, 8 hours overtime, and 8 hours unpaid sleep time.

What you need to start work:

Be 18+ years old and have a high school diploma or GED.

Have a driver's license and a vehicle covered by insurance that includes Alaska state minimums.

A current tuberculosis (TB) test.

Agree to and pass a State of Alaska background check.

Two (2) professional and three (3) personal references.

Every individual who is to be associated with MSSCA as an employee, volunteer or practicum/internship student must have a valid criminal history check conducted by the State of Alaska Background Check Program (BCP) in accordance with AS 47.05.300-47.05.390; as well as checked against the State of Alaska Medicaid Exclusion list and the Federal Exclusion list. There is an associated fee with the background check that is deducted from each staff's first paycheck.
