CentralCare is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Anesthesiologist to provide full-time services at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in Fort Hood, TX. This is a great opportunity for Anesthesiologist to support our military and their families as federal civilian contractors.
A Texas medical license is required for this position. If you do not currently hold a Texas license, we are happy to assist with the licensing process.

Anesthesiologist Experience: The contract Anesthesiologists shall have
Actively practiced as Anesthesiologists for at least two-years within the past three years prior to the commencement of services under this contract/task order.
Knowledge of the provision of medical management and consultation during the perioperative period, in Pain Medicine and in critical care medicine.
Knowledge of a wide variety of anesthesiology procedures and techniques including the functional characteristics of complex respiratory equipment. This includes, administering assisted and controlled ventilation to patients with tracheotomies and other complex medical problems, performing artificial airway care and maintenance.
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology including an in-depth understanding of the structure and function of the lungs and bronchi as related to gas exchange and ventilation, in order to administer special ventilation techniques such as: positive end expiratory pressure and intermittent mandatory ventilation; interpreting results of blood gas studies and makes adjustments in ventilator settings; removing endotracheal tubes; and assessing patient's respiratory status and evaluating effectiveness of therapy.
Knowledge of pharmacology including an understanding of various classes of drugs and their uses, ability to prepare dosages and concentrations and select proper methods of administration, and skill in identifying complications and interactions of various drugs; in order to determine effectiveness of the therapy being delivered to patients and to make recommendations to physicians regarding changes or alternatives to treatment.
Broad knowledge of computers and related software to include word processing, spreadsheet, data base management, statistical applications, and intranet and Internet connections and applications.
Anesthesiologist Responsibilities:
Administers anesthesiology to surgical patients.
Performs anesthesiology services administrative functions. Coordinates patient care and the administrative activities of the anesthesiology services during and after surgical procedures. Monitors and evaluates anesthesiology activities to determine compliance with established standards of patient care, policies, and regulations. Analyzes the requirements for supplies, equipment, and other resources, and makes recommendations.
Contract Anesthesiologists shall be primarily required to perform anesthesiology services during surgical procedures. When the services are not required, or anesthesiology services are more urgently required elsewhere, the contract Anesthesiologists may be assigned by Chief Anesthesiology or his/her designated representative to provide support in other sections/departments of the MTF commensurate with their experience. Contract Anesthesiologists will participate in the educational requirements of the Anesthesia to include attendance in morning report.
Provide Operating Room Support. The contract Anesthesiologists shall provide anesthesiology services for surgical patients to include non-surgical patients requiring anesthesia support in remote areas of the hospital.
The contract Anesthesiologist possesses knowledge, judgment, adaptability, clinical skills, technical facility and personal characteristics sufficient to carry out the entire scope of anesthesiology practice which ranges from neonates to geriatrics and obstetrics.
The Government will not schedule the contract Anesthesiologists to provide anesthesiology services at the same time the Government schedules the contract Anesthesiologists to attend training, meetings, conferences, etc. (morning huddles, staff meetings, DCSS huddles). Anesthesiologist are prohibited from attending any training, meeting, conference, etc. that include discussion of inherently government business, policy making, or duties. The time the contract Anesthesiologists are attending Government scheduled training, meetings, and/or conferences listed above will not be included in the calculations for outpatient care time.
Ensure documentation and reports are legible. Verify the content and correctness of all prepared reports by affixing his/her own signature or stamp to all copies of the document and validating its contents.
As required, use electronic medical record to manage patients and medical information and communicate with other health care providers and ancillary staff.
Contract Anesthesiologists are required to annotate and sign medical records in accordance with DHA policy, as well as MTF requirements when applicable.
As a part of the peer review process, MTF staff practitioners may randomly review contract Anesthesiologists' annotated patient medical records. MTF staff practitioners will note defects, omissions, addenda, etc., and contract personnel shall make required corrections.
Perform a full range of physician services in accordance with privileges granted by the MTF.
Direct, perform, or assist in the instruction of other health care professionals within the scope of the clinical privileges or responsibilities.
Examine, diagnose, treat or prescribe courses of treatment within the scope of training, experience, and privileges Provide preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling.
Order diagnostic tests as applicable as well as request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated.
Technically proficient in directing and teaching other medical staff, providing educational lectures and participating in the provision of in-service training to clinic staff members. Such direction and interaction will adhere to Government and professional clinical standards and accepted clinical protocols.
Anesthesiologist Qualifications:
Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.). Graduate from an accredited medical school in the United States or Canada.
Completion of an internship and accredited residency program in Anesthesiology.
Board Certified in Anesthesiology.
Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of Texas.
Active DEA
Active BLS, PALS, and ACLS. No on-line certifications will be accepted
Must meet continuing medical education (CME) requirements
