Rock Tower Homes is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to oversee all financial operations, lending activities, and team management. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive financial expertise, and deep knowledge of construction accounting. The role involves managing accounting processes, financial reporting, lending relationships, and driving operational excellence within the finance team.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

Oversee accounting operations, including accounts receivable (A/R), accounts payable (A/P), general ledger (G/L), and cost accounting, ensuring accurate financial transactions and reporting.

Manage payroll processes and maintain strong banking and lending relationships.

Monitor daily cash balances and funding, ensuring optimal cash flow management.

Prepare and publish monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

Oversee the preparation of annual operating budgets, financial forecasts, and variance analysis.

Reconcile general ledger accounts, bank accounts, and investment statements.

Review and analyze journal entries for accuracy in accounting documents.

Identify cost management opportunities and validate financial trends and variances.

Manage monthly loan payments, providing loan analysis and maintaining the construction draw schedule.

Coordinate the preparation of tax returns with external CPA firms, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements.

Lending and Real Estate Closings:

Oversee construction lending activities, tracking loan terms, relationships, and balances.

Execute loan documents, sales contracts, and closing documents related to real estate transactions.

Review closing disclosures, appraisals, and loan payoffs related to closings.

Manage lender relationships, troubleshoot closing challenges, and negotiate credit agreements.

Ensure accurate and timely documentation for banking and lending partners.

Compliance and Risk Management:

Ensure the adequacy of internal controls across all financial operations.

Review and manage corporate insurance policies, including Builders Risk insurance.

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax filings and reporting requirements.

Coordinate with external auditors and CPA firms for tax and audit processes.

Leadership and Team Development:

Hire, develop, and lead the finance and accounting team, ensuring performance standards are met.

Establish and maintain standard operating procedures for accounting and financial operations.

Foster a performance-driven culture and ensure the team adheres to financial best practices.

Present financial results to senior management and provide strategic insights and recommendations.

Skills and Experience:

Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.

Minimum 10 years of financial experience, with at least 5 years in a senior accounting or finance management role.

Strong understanding of GAAP, revenue recognition, percent of completion accounting, and cash flow management.

Proven ability to lead and develop teams, work independently, and make well-reasoned decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Advanced proficiency in Sage accounting platform and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.

Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to interact across all levels of the organization.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, coupled with project management expertise.

Demonstrated success in managing finance, accounting, budgeting, and reporting functions.

Ability to collaborate with senior management, customers, trade partners, and vendors.

Strong qualitative and quantitative financial analysis skills, with attention to detail.

Willing to take initiative, exhibit creativity, and take ownership of processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.

Experience working with private equity firms and outside investors.
