Job Description
Position Summary:
Working as a member of a cross-function team, serve as the technical leader for the design of new products, line extensions and production support of products from concept through production. Establish and execute projects to schedule and financial objectives. Support overall departmental/business continuous improvement efforts to support ISO 9001, product development lead times, customer satisfaction and costs.
Responsibilities:
New design of firearms, components, and accessories in accordance with the company’s new product development process and within schedule and budget requirements.
Create complete product designs and technical data packages (3D and 2D CAD) utilizing GD&T and configuration control best practices.
Perform technical research and analyses as required for product development.
Lead and facilitate FEMA and DFM workshops, with both internal and external stakeholders, to optimize product quality, cost and manufacturability.
Assimilate product requirements, focus group feedback and competitor analyses to create engineering specifications.
Perform risk assessments for projects and designs. Track, monitor, and mitigate project risks.
Create test plans for technical feasibility projects, prototypes, and qualification tests. As required, provide support during testing. Document final test reports.
Support quality and manufacturing during industrialization, LRIP and value engineering efforts.
Adopt department standards and best practices while seeking to improve them and contribute new ideas to streamline efficiency.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess at least 5-10 years of firearms new product design experience. Experience designing pistols preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills. Must work as a collaborative member of a project team.
Self-starter capable of working with limited supervision.
Effective verbal communication and strong technical writing skills.
Must be organized and capable of managing/supporting multiple projects or activities.
Knowledgeable and experienced with tollgate product release processes.
Knowledge and experience with industry testing standards.
5+ years of CAD experience. SolidWorks preferred.
Solid understanding and application of GD&T.
Experienced performing engineering analyses (e.g. tolerance stacks, FEA, kinematics).
Ability to travel internationally when required. Travel <5%.
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent engineering discipline required.
