HVAC Electrical Engineer / Programmer

Job Description:
Electrical engineers are responsible for designing and preparing technical electrical drawings, PLC programming and Bill of Materials.
Responsible for the design and layout of custom equipment and field installed projects. They will be required to select components and materials needed to meet customer specific project requirements. The ability to communicate overall project concepts, layouts and component designs via complete drawing packages and submittal book data is the primary responsibility of engineering staff personnel.
Preferred Background
Applicants should have experience in/with the following;
Knowledge in all disciplines of the HVAC and/or Manufacturing industry
Designing electrical power circuits
Designing electrical control circuits (AC and DC)
Knowledge of the design of and construction practices of manufactured and engineered products and services such as;
Fans
Compressors
Coils (DX and Chilled Water)
Heaters
Controls (DDC and Relay Logic)
Main Job Task & Responsibilities
Program PLC’s from “scratch”
Siemens and AB is a plus
FAT and SAT start-ups
Trouble shoot PLC programs for existing systems
Design and draw wiring and layout diagrams
Select electrical components
Design HVAC Sequence of Operations
Calculate MCA and MOCP
Specify electrical inter-connections
Electrical back-pan detailed layouts
Use Computer Aided Design and Drafting systems to prepare drawings, AUTO-CAD electrical
Create and store drawings electronically
Prepare variations of design
Explain concepts to customers, fabrication and installation workers
Prepare engineering drawings that detail plans and specifications
Redline/As built
Education and Experience
Must be proficient in the following software packages
AutoDesk AUTOCAD
Microsoft Word
Microsoft Excel
Knowledge in ASHRAE
Knowledge in NEC
Knowledge with hazardous locations and its requirements
Knowledge in IEC / ATEX is a plus
BSME or BSEE
Registered Engineer in the State of Texas
Knowledge of Electrical and Mechanical codes for hazardous areas and NFPA 496 systems
Minimum 8 - 10 years’ experience in HVAC industry PLC Programming is a must
Key Components
Effectively communicates relevant project information to team members
Ability to understand directions and work on multiple projects
Must be willing to work overtime
Ability to read customer provided drawings and specifications
Possesses general working knowledge of structural design
Ability to read and understand systems engineering drawings
Must be quality oriented with the ability to multi-task
Possesses leadership skills and team work attitude
Strong organizational skills required.
