Description:
The teacher’s aide shall prayerfully assist the classroom teacher in helping the students learn attitudes, skills and subject matter that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible Christians to the praise and glory of God. This is a 3 day a week position, averaging 24 hours per week.Requirements:
• Prepare materials for lessons, demonstrations, and bulletin boards.
• Operate equipment including computers, printers, photocopiers, and laminators.
• Ensure that students have all materials necessary for class activities.
• Work with students individually or in small groups for extension or remediation.
• Provide extra help as needed to students with physical, mental, or linguistic limitations.
• Maintain detailed records of students' progress on instructional or behavioral goals.
• Supervise bus loading and unloading or car rider drop-off and pick-up.
• Coordinate with classroom teachers to determine daily tasks
• Lead activities designed to foster students' mental, physical, and social development
• Supervise students in various settings including classrooms, playgrounds, and field trips
• Enforce school rules and policies
• Participate in parent-teacher conferences as requested by teachers
• Attend staff meetings, professional development, and training sessions
Physical Requirements to Fulfill the Essential Functions of this Job
• Move about the classroom and supervise students during class.
• When the recess monitor is unavailable, take their students onto the playground or in the gymnasium area and keep up with students, control them until reaching the playground/gymnasium and remain with the students on/in the playground/gymnasium.
• Physically accompany students in the hallways or in other places inside and outside the buildings as the students move from one location to another location on the premises.
• Have sufficient vision to allow for active supervision and interaction with students.
• Supervise students at the closing of each day as students are dismissed to buses and/or for their rides, including times of rain, snow and freezing weather
• Have the ability to quickly summon help when an emergency arises either in the classroom, gymnasium or on the playground.
• Climb the stairs to reach the classrooms/offices on the higher floors at all campuses.
• Must be able to lift boxes up to 15 lbs.
Qualifications
• Have a mature relationship with Jesus Christ as his/her personal Lord and Savior and be active in an evangelical church.
• Be a Christ-like model for students in attitude, speech, and actions toward others (Luke 6:40)
• Be supportive of the school's mission and doctrinal statements.
• Acceptable PA DOE employment clearances dated within one year: FBI Fingerprint/ Act 114 Federal Criminal Background Check (Identogo Service Code 1KG6TR), Act 151 State Child Abuse Background Report, and Act 34 PA State Police Background Clearance
• High school diploma or GED required
• Associate degree in education or related field preferred
• At least one year of relevant experience in an educational or childcare setting
• Basic personal computer skills (Gmail, Word, Excel)
• Feels called of God to work with children.
• Have the spiritual maturity, academic ability and personal leadership qualities to “train up a child in the way he should go.”
• Exemplary written and spoken communication skills
• Strong collaboration skills; able to work well with a team
• Effective multitasker; can prioritize tasks based on importance and deadlines
Compensation
• Hourly Rate: $10/hour
• Part-time 24 hours per week benefits include: accruing sick days and 1 personal day, per handbook guidelines. 50% tuition discount for any children attending Eden.
