Basic Skills Instructor (PT)

Job Description

We are seeking a Basic Skills Instructor who is responsible for classroom instruction in the areas of reading, math, and computer literacy contextualized to the solar industry. All instruction will include job readiness, and preparation for students to take the NABCEP PV Associate exam.

This is a part-time, grant funded position.

Examples of Duties:

Instruct students in contextualized basic skills.

Integrate industry-specific skills into daily lessons.

Prepare quizzes, exams, and other evaluation tools.

Identify contextualized curriculum that will prepare students for the solar industry.

Develop relevant training activities including, individualized educational modules customized to individual student’s academic needs and career interests.

Incorporate life skills, job readiness, and career development activities into curriculum to prepare students for employment.

Complete lesson plans to be reviewed and approved by program director.

Enforce program policies and procedures.

Collaborate with other program staff to address student issues.

Maintain participant attendance records and files.

Participate in regular program and departmental meetings.

Assist in the preparation of required reports for the program funder.

Participate in all aspects of course and program evaluation.

Perform other related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree (preferred)

Minimum one (1) year of teaching experience.

Excellent computer skills required, including database management.

Experience with grant-funded programs for low-income populations. (preferred)

The completion of a background check will be required for the selected candidate.

Compensation: Compensation is determined by a variety of criteria, including but not limited to, previous relevant experience, education level, and certifications. The minimum hourly pay for this position is $30.
