Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly/weekly payroll across multiple states
Review and audit payroll data, including timekeeping records, deductions, bonuses, and other payroll-related transactions
Prepare and analyze payroll reports for internal stakeholders and external auditors
Reconcile payroll-related accounts and assist with general ledger entries as needed
Maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to resolve discrepancies and respond to employee payroll inquiries
Support year-end processes including W-2 preparation and audit requests
Assist in identifying and implementing payroll process improvements
Stay up-to-date on changes in payroll regulations and best practices
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field (or equivalent experience)
3-5 years of payroll experience in a multi-state environment
Strong understanding of payroll principles, practices, and tax regulations
Experience with payroll software such as ADP, UKG, Workday, or similar platforms
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis)
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in [industry, e.g., healthcare, technology, manufacturing]
Familiarity with union payroll or international payroll (if applicable)
Knowledge of payroll accounting and reconciliation processes
