York Building Products, a division of the Stewart Companies, is looking for a self-motivated and reliable team member to join our Finance team in the position of Accounts Receivable Specialist. The ideal candidate will have experience in handling cash application in a multi-company environment with strong attention to detail, efficient time management skills, and a continuous improvement mindset. He/she will also be able to work professionally with customers and colleagues at all levels and have a willingness to step up and help the team when needed.
Position Summary
The AR Specialist will be responsible for ensuring accurate application of payments to customer accounts across multiple companies. He/she will also maintain customer records, review account discrepancies, and respond to customer inquiries.
Key Responsibilities
Maintains cash receipts and enters invoices into customer portals.
Responds to customer inquiries via phone and e-mail, including the distribution of customer statements and ticket copies upon request.
Processes and applies daily receipts and reconciliation of payments from the company’s operating plants.
Maintains recordkeeping of customer information.
Provides support for external audits.
Provides information to our sales team, customers and other stakeholders in a timely manner when requested.
Continuously evaluates current policies and makes recommendations for process improvements.
Completes special projects as assigned.
Performs other duties as assigned.Requirements:
1+ years of accounts receivable and/or payable experience, preferably in a multi-company environment.
Associate’s degree in Accounting or Business preferred but not required.
Must have analytical skills in basic accounts receivable and accounting policies.
Must have proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products, particularly Excel.
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains accounting software is a plus.
Must demonstrate a strong attention to detail and accurate data entry skills.
Must possess a strong team-oriented mindset.
Must be able to adapt quickly to changing priorities and a fast-paced work environment and must be able to perform under deadlines with frequent interruptions.
Must be able to work independently, follow through on assignments with minimal direction, and set priorities, which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities.
Must be able to work exceptionally well with employees, customers and business associates at all levels with a professional attitude.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality on a wide spectrum of topics and issues for which discretion is required.
