Verdox is dedicated to reversing climate change through the development and deployment of advanced technology. Our proprietary electro-swing process, developed at MIT, enables carbon dioxide and other acid gasses to be captured with up to 80% less energy and 70% less cost than conventional approaches. We are backed by institutional investors and based in Boston.
This is an opportunity to join a dynamic and highly skilled team. Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing, the Senior Systems Engineer will lead efforts to create and commercialize groundbreaking products, and serve as a key contributor to the growth of Verdox.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, program and test gas processing systems
Drive the Product Requirements development and management process, incorporating Risk Management and Hazard Analysis elements as required
Lead Design Characterization and Verification activities, including development and execution of Design Verification plans
Manage key product performance factors at a system level
Compile, analyze and report test results, and recommend appropriate engineering tradeoffs to optimize functional performance, reliability, and product cost
Ensure product design meets industry and regulatory requirements and standards
Translate prototype designs into scalable solutions achieving performance & cost targets
Lead interdisciplinary project teams
Collaborate with Technology Development and other internal and external stakeholders
Participate in or lead technical reviews and design reviews
Contribute to documentation of product design history
Develop and document Verdox SOPs related to product design and development
Support field installations of Verdox products
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
Educational background
BS in Mechanical or Systems Engineering, or other relevant engineering discipline, MS preferred
Work Experience
At least 5 years of hands-on experience developing complex electromechanical products or systems required
Experience working in an ISO regulated environment strongly preferred
Job Skills, Experience, and Abilities
Successful experience with product lifecycle including definition of complex system and sub-system requirements, designing hardware/software architecture, verification and validation planning and execution under a quality management system
High level of hands-on experience building and testing complex systems required, preferably within a structured phase-gate process
Direct experience with creating or maintaining process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and wiring schematics
Experience with gas or liquid processing systems strongly desired
Experience with scripting languages such as Python, structured data queries such as SQL, and automation software (LabVIEW, PLC-SCADA, Modbus, etc)
Proficiency with Solidworks, GD&T, ASME Y14.5 a plus
Ability to effectively compile, analyze and present complex test data
Demonstrated ability to model best practices in effective implementation and use of Product and Quality System documentation
Skilled with Failure Analysis (FMEA) and other quality risk management tools
Familiarity with regulatory requirements and certification processes (ISO, CE/TUV)
Demonstrated project management experience working with interdisciplinary teams
Ability to brainstorm and communicate complex technical designs to diverse audiences
Highly organized and independent - able to plan and execute tasks with little oversight
Ability to thrive in a fast paced, highly collaborative and rapidly evolving startup environment
Willingness to contribute in areas outside of core competencies to meet company needs
Physical requirements/Work environment
60% Shop-floor and laboratory work environment, 40% office environment
Ability to lift components weighing up to 35 lbs. is required
May be required to sit or stand for prolonged periods, as needed
Travel Required
Up to 10-20% possible, including domestic and international sites
