Title: Cyber Security Engineer

Location: San Francisco, CA

Duration: 12 Months

Responsibilities

Review and validate detected cyber security incidents and risks.

Determine the operational impacts of cyber security control failures.

Develop, track, and present cyber security statistics and metrics for assigned area.

Respond to security breaches and incidents, by supporting less tenured cyber security personnel.

Communicate business impacts and recommend remediation steps to decision makers.

Develop and approve changes to cyber security procedures and systems.

Apply information and knowledge about the latest cyber security trends and threats to prevent the realization of risk to the business enterprise.

Provide input to enterprise resiliency, disaster recovery and business continuity.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or 4+ years equivalent combination of experience in related field. Skills, education (including other relevant non-traditional degree programs, certifications, or job training programs) preferred.

Professional certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or CISM are highly desirable.

Experience as a cyber security engineer or system administrator is desired.

Strong knowledge of security technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, and endpoint protection software and business systems (i.e. M365/Google).

Experience with cloud security (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

Knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, NIST, and ISO).

Familiarity with software development practices and scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for task automation.

Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of network protocols, operating systems, and security technologies.

Experience with security tools (e.g., SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls) as a tool administrator or engineer strongly desired.

Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to assess and mitigate risks.

Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

Team Player: Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with cross-functional groups.
