Major/Essential Functions
Provides hospital-based pediatric cardiothoracic care and consultation in an academic medical center
Provides pediatric cardiothoracic care in an outpatient clinic
Performs a wide variety of pediatric cardiothoracic procedures
Participates in teaching activities, including conferences and lectures, bedside teaching, and rounds for medical students and/or residents, and continuing medical education
Engages in advancement of scientific knowledge through research and/or scholarship
Provides on-call coverag9, as scheduled
Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations
Serves the academic community through participations in institutional governance, such as committee work and other administrative duties
Contributes to the community through academically-related public service complimentary to the institutional mission
Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures
Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine's Statement of Faculty Professional Responsibility
Upholds and promotes the values-based culture of TTUHSC El Paso
Required Qualifications
M .D or D.O. degree
Successful completion of ACGME-accredited general surgery residency program and ACGME accredited cardiothoracic surgery fellowship program; or successful completion of ACGME accredited integrated cardiothoracic surgery residency program
Successful completion of ACGME-accredited congenital cardiac surgery fellowship
Texas Medical License, or eligible for medical licensure in the State of Texas
Preferred Qualifications
Board certification in Surgery by the American Board of Surgery or American Osteopathic Board of Surgical Specialties
Board certification in Thoracic and Cardiac Surgery by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery
Board certification in congenital cardiac surgery by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery
Experience in teaching medical students and residents
Experience in conducting research and publishing scientific reports
Emerging or established regional or national reputation for the rank of associate professor or higher
