Job Description
Position responsible to manage Warehouse/Distribution daily operations, Supervisors, Leads and staff, manages all incoming/outgoing receiving and distribution fleet, manages raw materials floor stock and assists in inventories. Interacts with Purchasing on inventory also interacts with production scheduler on finished product inventory. The Warehouse/Distribution Manager is responsible to report any food safety or quality issue to supervisor or upper management with the ability to initiate action.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinates company local distributor deliveries, insures proper paperwork completed, monitors drivers.
Coordinates purchasing will call orders with company driver.
Coordinates freight for distributors and inbound deliveries, sets-up dock appointments, relaying freight costs to payables, purchasing and sales departments.
Coordinates receiving of incoming deliveries, and in rotation of raw materials and finished goods.
Ensures all materials received are assigned proper lot # and entered in the inventory system.
Ensures all materials received have a POD and PO#
Coordinates weekly inventory for purchasing, makes internal adjustments and informs all who need to know, follows up on why adjustments needed to be made.
Coordinates finished product distributor’s inventory, responsible for second count for discrepancies found in completed inventory.
Reviews warehouse/distribution hours weekly to keep hours to a minimum.
Serves as a back up in warehouse/distribution if staff is absent.
Responsible for insuring product is stored properly (frozen, reefer, dry)
Responsible for material transportation from production, warehouse, coolers and freezer.
Responsible for transportation of raw materials to production floor.
Daily truck/forklift/EPJ inspections- report equipment service needs.
Keeps process and procedure books for warehouse/distribution updated.
Oversees the Warehouse/Distribution Supervisor’s and Lead’s.
Has a staff meeting as needed with warehouse/distribution dept. as required
Ensures both warehouse/distribution are SQF certified ready at all times.
Keep training current on GMP’s and Food Safety.
Must be in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and Hazard Analysis Risk-based Preventative Control (HARPC).
Education and/or Experience:
Forklift certification
Inventory control MRP
Computer skills
Valid driver’s license
At least 5 yrs warehouse management
Knowledge of writing SOP’s
Knowledge of food safety & food certification guidelines.
Skills and abilities:
· Operate forklift, walkie rider and stand up reach.
· Knowledge writing SOP’S
· Knowledge of DOT related areas.
· Knowledge of freight rates.
