Sterling Engineering is looking for a Instrument and Controls Project Engineer for a a leading of manufacturer of advanced technology to help reduce pollution. This is a great opportunity to work with a company that has great benefits!
Job Duties:
Perform instrument and controls project duties, including component selection and logic sequence design.
Interface with controls suppliers, vendors, consultants, and contractors.
Review I/C documentation and drawings from subcontractors.
Write functional descriptions, sequences of operation, equipment manuals, and system descriptions.
Collaborate with Project and Process Engineering to establish control methodology and strategy.
Create various I/C drawings including SAMA (analog and digital), electrical schematics, and one-line diagrams.
Design operator interface screens and establish safety system criteria for I/C systems.
Participate in FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing), internal shop testing, and project startups.
Maintain open communication with controls OEMs such as Rockwell Software and Revere Electric.
Monitor industry developments in PLC technology and pricing.
Ensure timely delivery of components by coordinating with subcontractors according to project schedules.
Maintain records of electrical and I/C design documentation and cut sheets.
Provide support to field personnel for electrical and I/C troubleshooting.
Apply ISA and KKS tagging platforms as required by clients.
Utilize remote networking tools such as eWon for project support.
Qualifications:
B.S. in Engineering (Electrical strongly preferred).
3â 5 years of experience in Project Engineering with an emphasis on instrumentation and controls or equivalent.
Strong experience programming Allen-Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix, CompactLogix); familiarity with SLC 500 and MicroLogix is a plus.
Proficiency with Allen-Bradley PanelView/PanelView Plus and FactoryTalk View ME/SE.
Experience with instrumentation setup (flow, pressure, temperature, control valves), loop checks, and troubleshooting.
Ability to create, review, and modify SAMA diagrams.
Knowledge of KKS and ISA tagging and generation.
Experience programming operator interfaces using FactoryTalk View SE or RSView32.
Must be able to travel at least 25% of the time, domestically and internationally.
May require field assignments of two weeks or more.
