Assistant Controller - Estes Park
The Asst Controller is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of consolidated financial statements including balance sheets, profit and loss, and subsidiary statements for assigned entities.
Essential Functions
- Provides accurate and timely completion of monthly financial statements and meaningful notes to financial users for all markets/centers.
- Reviews and analyzes general ledger account balances, verifies accuracy, and makes recommendations for corrections.
- Evaluates transactions, agreements, and contracts to ensure they are accurately captured in the financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Serves as key contributor in the development of annual budgeting for assigned entities.
- Computes and prepares data for journal entries and reviews general ledger and related financial statements
- Prepares reconciliations for all accounts in support of month ending balances and verifies the accuracy of intercompany balances.
- Prepares monthly/quarterly distribution calculations in accordance with Company approved distribution percentages.
- Maintains an analytical approach when compiling financial statements and other reports to identify outliers and areas indicating need for improvement or further analysis.
- Provides additional support to the Accounting Department assisting with special projects and analysis as needed or requested.
Skills and Abilities:
BA in Accounting or equivalent
2+ years Hospitality experience is required
Strong command and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles is a basic requirement of the position.
Independent critical thinking and problem solving.
Understand and quickly learn new information systems, including accounting programs, property management systems and point of sale systems.
Written and verbal communication.
Excel advanced is a requirement.
M3 experience is a plus but not required
