Senior Optical Systems Engineer - Microscopy Development

We are seeking a talented Optical Systems Engineer to join our innovative team focused on designing, building, and commercializing cutting-edge fluorescence microscopes. As our inaugural full-time engineer, you will enjoy extensive ownership and influence over our product design and strategic direction.

In this role, you will:

Transform prototypes into market-ready products by leading the design, testing, and manufacturing processes for multiple microscopy systems.

Quickly iterate on advancements for future technology generations.

Collaborate closely with the CEO to drive commercialization efforts, showcasing our devices at labs, companies, and conferences while engaging with early customers to gather insights on enhancing biological research.

Contribute to the development and commercialization of additional applications for our technology.

Key qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.

Over 5 years of relevant industry experience.

Proven track record of building and successfully launching commercial optical devices, preferably microscopes.

Strong expertise in opto-mechanical tolerancing.

Proficiency in Python or MATLAB for instrument control and data analysis, as well as experience with CAD software (preferably SolidWorks or equivalent).

Familiarity with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience working with biological systems.

Salary/Pay Range:

$150,000-$200,000 annual salary, with equity and benefits included.
