The Controller will oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory and general ledger management. This role is crucial in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements, and supporting strategic decision-making at all levels of the organization. The Controller will work closely with senior management and other departments to ensure that financial goals are aligned with Frog Street's strategic initiatives. PLEASE NOTE: this position requires onsite presence.
The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounting: Oversee all accounting operations, including the preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, month-end close processes, royalty calculations, subscription recurring revenue calculations, and capitalization of product development.
Financial Reporting: Manage the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements.
Financial Analysis: Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making, including cost analysis, profitability assessments, and key performance metrics.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal financial policies, and other statutory requirements, including timely filing of sales tax returns and compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.
Internal Controls: Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
Audit Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors during annual audits and manage the preparation and submission of all required documentation.
Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and develop the Accounting team, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field - CPA required
7+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role
Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial regulations and compliance requirements
Advanced proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., Sage 100, NetSuite SAP)
Advanced Excel skills
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to present complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders
Experience with revenue recognition models, subscription-based accounting, and transaction-based revenue streams is a plus
Experience in multi-state sales tax filing is a plus
Experience in inventory management and cost accounting is a plus
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior management and cross-functional teams
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
