Position Overview:
As a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible to inspect, service and maintain a range of heavy-duty mining equipment.
Position Responsibilities:
Perform diagnostic, maintenance and repair of heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, haul trucks, front end loaders, water trucks, motor graders, pick-ups and other support equipment.
Perform the removal, repair and installation of engines, transmissions, brakes, differentials, torque converters, final drives, cylinders and other heavy equipment systems and components.
Perform routine Preventative Maintenance on mining equipment and support equipment systems such as hydraulic, power train, engine, emission systems and Ground Engaging tools.
Perform diagnostic troubleshooting through the use of diagnostic laptops, service manuals and equipment manufacturer online support sites.
Safely operate mobile equipment such as: Service trucks, overhead cranes, forklifts and boom truck.
Perform welding and cutting functions such as: Oxygen/Acetylene torch, Carbon Arc, Mig and Stick welding.
Perform hose building in the hose room to replace blown and damaged hydraulic hoses on equipment.
Assist in maintaining inventory of service kits, lubes, oils, and other supplies.
Document work performed and parts used on work orders.
Perform daily work area and equipment inspections and fill out documentation as needed and required.
Coordinate equipment service activities with production and maintenance team members.
Perform tasks from verbal/written instructions and communicate effectively with supervisor and fellow employees.
Keep work area clean and orderly.
Complete daily work assignments in a timely fashion.
Actively callout on the 2-way radio system point-to-point movement at all times on the active haul road and around Mine Equipment.
Be a leader of both safety and production for the team by ensuring compliance with all company safety policies, procedures and environmental regulations.
Actively participate in safety huddles.
Always maintain a preparedness to deploy spill kits in the event of a spill with fuel or other lubricant. Actively participate in the cleanup of any spills arising from your duties.
Must be able to perform work wearing personal protective gear including hard hat, safety glasses, safety footwear, hearing protection, respirator, protective clothing, gloves, face shield and any other protective equipment as required.

Basic Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years’ experience in mining / crushing operations or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Minimum 3 years’ supervisory or managerial experience preferred.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
High School Diploma required.
A Valid Driver’s License to drive company vehicles on and off property.
Desired Qualities:
Ability to troubleshoot machine systems such as: Wiring, sensors, controls, hydraulics etc.
Ability to prioritize repairs and possess excellent decision-making skills.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance procedures, parts and maintenance manuals in English.
Ability to work well with others in a group or one on one setting.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions in English.
Ability to work early in the morning in the dark, utilizing only truck mounted and portable lights.
Ability to work outside in inclement weather when necessary to provide the necessary support to the operation.

(PPE) Personal Protective Equipment is required when performing work in a mine, manufacturing, outdoor, or plant environment. Required PPE may include, but is not limited to, hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves, and any other protective equipment as required.
Working Conditions - Our facility sits at an elevation of 4,700 feet. Employees may be subject to extreme weather conditions when working in an outdoor setting (heat and cold, wind). Work is at an open pit mine or manufacturing/chemical plant setting, which may include exposure to moving mechanical parts, toxic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, explosives, fumes, or airborne particles.
Physical Demands - Manual dexterity; sense of touch; sense of smell; speaking clearly; hearing-speech range; hearing – all ranges; seeing, reading and comprehensions; seeing – distant/near; depth perception; color vision. While performing the job responsibilities, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to stand and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate laboratory equipment. The employee is occasionally required to walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Employees must pass a full-face respiratory fit test. Employees must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must be able to work in PPE level C.
