We are looking for a Financial Controller to join our team!
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations of a high-end residential contracting firm.
Maintain and analyze general ledger accounts and subsidiary ledgers.
Review, audit, and close general ledger at month end and fiscal year end.
Prepare back-up details for general ledger accounts; meet with and provide to C.P.A. for corporate tax return and C.P.A.-prepared financial statement reports and analysis.
Job cost accounting for projects ranging in value from $5M – $80M.
Assist in monthly preparation of accounts receivable billings to clients, ranging from $100K to $3M each.
Accounts payable invoice entry and disbursements ranging from $1M – $5M per month. Complete and submit 1099-MISCs.
Oversee collection of Certificates of Insurance for subcontractors and W-9 forms for 1099 preparation.
Complete and submit 1099-INTs for interest on shareholder loans and 1099-DIVs to stockholders, as necessary, at calendar year end.
Oversee weekly payroll.
Complete all quarterly and year-end payroll reporting, i.e., W-2s, UCT-6s, 941s, and 940EZ. Yearly payroll ranges from $1M – $3M, for from 10 to 20 employees.
Oversee and manage various insurances policies:
Liability (report and track claims; communicate with adjuster);
Worker’s Compensation (report injuries and act as liaison between injured employee, insurance, and doctor)
Health Insurance(responsible for changes and additions to policy and deductions from paychecks as necessary).
Monthly Sales Tax reporting.
Maintain Fixed Asset Logs for office equipment, construction equipment, and leasehold equipment.
Compile and send information to accountant for preparation of Tangible Tax Return.
Responsible for downloading and installing accounting software updates.
Solve accounting software problems by working with the technical support staff at Starbuilder.
Responsible for nightly back-ups, maintaining office server, and reporting any computer problems to computer vendor.
Daily management of accounting staff of between 2 and 6 employees
Manage the day to day operations of the physical office building
Maintains accounts for all services in relation to the operation of the business
Prepare and examine accounting records, financial statements, taxes, and other financial reports
Develop and analyze reporting for business operations and budgets
Perform audits, ensuring adherence to standard requirements
Create new processes to improve financial efficiency
Report analysis and findings to management team
Supervise, direct, and train office staff
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Accounting/Finance or 10+ years previous experience in Accounting,
CPA designation a plus – but not required
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
Fundamental knowledge of GAAP
Experience with current computer accounting programs and reporting tools (STARBUILDER, MS Office Suite)
Detail and deadline-oriented
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Sound work ethic and flexibility to get the job done
