Job Description
Railway Equipment Company is seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Delano, MN. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for independently designing, developing, testing, and improving mechanical components and systems. This role requires a strong engineering background, problem-solving ability, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to support product development and manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop mechanical systems and components using CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, CREO, AutoCAD inventor).
Conduct engineering analyses (CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) FEA, thermal, stress, tolerance analysis, etc.).
Lead medium-to-complex engineering projects with minimal supervision.
Prepare and maintain detailed engineering documentation (drawings, BOMs, specs).
Evaluate materials and processes to meet cost, performance, and durability targets.
Collaborate with electrical, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure product integrity.
Support testing and validation of prototypes and final products.
Troubleshoot mechanical issues in development and production environments.
Mentor junior engineers and review their design work.
Ensure compliance with applicable standards (e.g., ASME, ISO, UL).
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
5–8 years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
Proficiency in 3D CAD software and simulation tools.
Solid understanding of manufacturing methods (CNC machining, injection molding, 3D printing, etc.).
Familiarity with GD&T and drafting standards.
Strong analytical and communication skills.
Experience in project management and leading technical teams is a plus.
Conduct routine quality inspections throughout the production or manufacturing process, including in-process and final inspections
Maintain documentation of all inspections and potential issues
Assist with problem resolution
