Job Description

Responsibilities and Qualifications:

Safety is a priority

Proper PPE at all times

Diagnose and repair heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, tractors, small engines, automobiles, pumps, screening equipment, etc.

PM's on all equipment

Order necessary parts for whatever you are working on.

Put the tools away and cleanup after yourself. (Tools are company provided)

Light fabrication and welding experience is a plus.

Touch up paint and light body work on heavy equipment.

Work will be both in the shop and in the field.

Take pride in your work.

Be a team player.

Take direction from the Shop Foreman and/or Field Operations Manager.

Experience preferred but not required.

High school diploma as a minimum

Must possess a drivers license and have reliable transportation. Class A CDL is preferred.

Be familiar with OSHA requirements for our line of work.

Basic computer skills. Familiar with basic programs such as Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.

Exceptional communication and listening skills, both verbal and written.

You must be a "people person". You will deal with everyone that is in any way involved in our work, of all backgrounds, ages, abilities, attitudes, etc. Listening, problem solving and conflict resolution while maintaining a positive relaxed attitude regardless of the situation is a requirement.

Must be highly adaptive to change. Things will constantly change from what you had originally planned. If you cannot handle change or rework this position is not for you.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

The ability to multitask, strategize, and solve problems in a variety of situations.Company Description

McCormick Sand Inc is a professional excavating contractor primarily serving the West Michigan area. Our typical work involves road construction, underground utilities, lift stations, county drain projects, and general site work on both commercial and a few residential projects. Our team is highly diverse and experienced which allows us to stay close to home while performing a large variety of work.

We are highly committed to safety, integrity and profitability while providing a quality end product for each and every customer no matter how large or small. Our crews typically average 50 hours per week Monday through Friday, very few Saturdays. A typical season for our field crews is March 10th through December 20th. Mechanics, office staff and drivers work year round. It is very important to us to keep everyone steadily working throughout the season.

Work/life balance is also a high priority within our company. We encourage you to get to those events that can be easily overlooked in this line of work. Kids sporting events, school performances, those sorts of things are important to us that we work into the schedule as much as possible while maintaining project deadlines.
