As we continue to grow, we are seeking a talented and experienced Assistant Controller to join our team at our Sarasota, Florida facility.

Position Overview:

Yellowfin Yachts is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our dynamic finance team. The Assistant Controller will support the Controller in overseeing all aspects of the company’s financial operations. The role involves managing financial reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, and contributing to strategic financial planning. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of accounting processes, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting: Preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Ensure timely and accurate reporting in compliance with GAAP and in compliance with lender and Private equity group requirements

General Ledger Management: Review all and reconcile some general ledger accounts, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded and classified.

Month-End & Year-End Close: Support the month-end and year-end close process, including inventory journal entries and related review of all others, and financial statement preparation.

Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the development of annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis to support financial planning and decision-making.

Internal Controls: Ensure proper internal controls are in place and maintain compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Cost Management: Prepare cost analysis and reporting related to production, inventory, and overheads to improve financial performance.

Audit Support: Work with external auditors during audits and provide necessary documentation to support interim & year-end work and ensure compliance with regulations.

Accounts Payable & Receivable: Oversee and assist with the management of accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring efficient and timely processing.

Payroll: Review weekly payroll processing and related reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws.

Cash Forecasting – Complete 13-week cash flow on a weekly basis including daily updating/reconciliation to bank

Review of Final Contracts – for sale of boat to dealer or direct customer & related sign-off of related documentation for transfer of ownership

Sales & Property Tax Filings – Prepare and/or review of related filings

Team Leadership & Development: Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff, promoting a collaborative and high-performance team environment.

Special Projects: Participate in special projects, process improvements, and other tasks as assigned by the Controller or CFO

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).

CPA designation or progress toward certification (preferred).

Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or assistant controller role.

Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls (required).

Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, Acumatica (preferred)).

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced).

Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.

A strong team player with the ability to collaborate across various departments.
