The Philadelphia Youth Network (PYN) is an intermediary organization dedicated to connecting systems and leveraging resources. PYN works to equip young people for academic achievement, economic opportunity and personal success. To achieve this mission, we coordinate and support large-scale, cross-sector initiatives while developing targeted programs to expand access to services for underserved youth. We design and deliver evidence-informed models to promote these opportunities. And, we organize those models into coordinated services and delivery systems that produce results. As a convener, PYN brings together interested partners to increase the number of opportunities for youth.
Since 1999, PYN has worked in partnership to equip Philadelphia's young people with the tools and resources necessary to thrive in today's current workforce. Through pivotal moments involving PYN leadership, and several key champions, we will continue to honor our past and dream the future. The Philadelphia Youth Network (PYN) has solid experience serving as the “backbone” of collective impact initiatives serving opportunity youth (OY), young adults aged 16-24 who are disconnected from school and work, and meets the criteria for high-performing non-profits as defined by the Social Innovation Fund and this opportunity. Over the past 15 years, PYN has demonstrated its ability to function as a high-capacity backbone organization through its ongoing position managing two cross-sector citywide collaboratives: Project U-Turn, focused on dropout prevention and recovery, and WorkReady Philadelphia, focused on coordinating and aligning youth workforce development initiatives.
