A Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization committed to making a lasting impact through thoughtful innovation, operational excellence, and a strong sense of community. The organization is a staple in the Los Angeles community and values collaboration, integrity, and continuous improvement. We are currently seeking a Controller to join their leadership team and oversee core financial operations, reporting directly to the CFO.
Role Overview:
Manage the business office’s accounting functions, including financial reporting, budgeting, payroll support, and oversight of accounts payable and receivable
Supervise a small team to ensure accuracy, compliance, and integrity of all financial operations
Support audits, manage financial systems and controls, and ensure adherence to internal procedures
Prepare detailed financial reports for leadership and board committees
Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in line with GAAP and organizational policies
Work closely with the CFO on financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting
Contribute to the development and implementation of financial controls and best practices
Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure seamless financial operations across the organization
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
CPA, MBA or advanced degree is a plus
5–10 years of progressive accounting experience in a nonprofit or private school setting
Strong skills in financial reporting, budgeting, reconciliations, and internal controls
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skillsCompany Description
