Controller

Job Description

The Controller will oversee all aspects of the financial operations of the Company and its affiliates. The role requires a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of Accounting and Finance principles that is seeking a challenging role with a growing and evolving firm. The ideal candidate will embrace the challenge of managing and growing the financial and accounting department as the organization continues to grow. The successful candidate will be responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, general ledger maintenance, accounting policies and procedures and assisting with evaluating potential acquisitions. Additionally, the Controller will have ultimate responsibility for month-end and year-end closing processes, as well as ensuring compliance with all applicable accounting principles.

Duties –

1. Prepare monthly balance sheets, income statements and profit and loss statements

2. Maintain the general ledger

3. Oversee reconciliation of company bank accounts

4. Supervise and manage accounting department

5. Supervise and manage accounts payable and accounts receivable

6. Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close process

7. Develop, maintain, implement and improve internal financial controls and procedures to safeguard company and shareholder assets.

8. Manage budget preparation and financial forecasting, conduct financial analysis to identify trends, efficiencies and areas for cost reduction

9. Coordinate and lead the annual audit process

10. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings

11. Assist in formulating strategic and long-term business plans; collaborate with other executive leadership to provide insights and recommendations based on financial analysis.

12. Ensure compliance with SEC regulations regarding paying agent activity

13. Communicating important financial information to key stakeholders, including department heads and senior management.

Requirements -

1. Bachelors Degree or higher in Accounting, Finance or a related field.

2. Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience

3. Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting and GAAP.

4. Experience with budgeting and forecasting processes

5. Highly organized, detail oriented and self motivated

6. Proficiency in accounting software (Sage 100 experience a big plus), MS Office suite

7. CPA designation highly preferred
