POSITION SUMMARY:

The Controller requires an unwavering commitment to accuracy, integrity, transparency, and the ability to persuasively present complex financial information. The Controller will collaborate with cross-functional teams and leverage their expertise to ensure that our financial operations align industry best practices and compliance. The controller is responsible for managing the accounting team and all accounting functions of the business including managing the financial statements, general ledger, invoicing, revenue recognition, job costing, A/P, A/R, inventory, treasury, cost management, financial controls, expense management, reconciliations and other accounting and financial functions. Qualified candidates will have accounting management experience in an industrial, manufacturing and/or service setting, preferably in a controller or comptroller role. Technical GAAP understanding is necessary for proper financial statement reporting.

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:

Manage and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity. Motivate, train and mentor team members to achieve their maximum potential.

Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements. Implement robust financial controls to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable standards.

Develop, implement, document, and maintain financial controls and guidelines. Implement and document consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures with a continuous improvement mindset.

Regularly review and update control procedures to comply with GAAP and adapt to new regulations and business needs, including revenue recognition, expenses, and organizational budgets.

Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflows.

Serve as the go-to expert for technical accounting matters. Prepare detailed accounting memos and policy write-ups to guide staff and ensure adherence to the latest accounting standards and best practices.

Direct and participate in monthly close activities and reporting activities with a goal of 100% accuracy and timely reporting.

Prepare Percentage of Completion and construction accounting each month for proper financial statement presentation. Ensure job cost reporting is accurate and complete.

Lead auditing initiatives, including planning, execution, and reporting. Conduct thorough testing of financial systems and controls to identify areas for improvement and ensure reliability and integrity of financial data.

Champion finance transformation by identifying opportunities for automation. Lead projects aimed at streamlining financial processes using technology, enhancing efficiency, and reducing manual efforts.

Collaborate with operational managers to establish warehouse inventory levels which are adequate but also minimize idle inventory and working capital. Assist with Physical inventory planning and execution with appropriate controls. Audit physical inventory during execution and ensure accuracy.

Help develop and support short and long-term financial and operational strategies.

Ensure timely and accurate local, state, and federal government reporting, tax filings, annual 1099’s, W-2’s, and liability payments.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Experienced in MS Excel & Word

Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP or similar ERP System

Must be proactive, self-motivated, detail oriented and reliable.

Must have the ability to multitask and work independently, as well as in a team environment.

Must be physically able to perform work assigned.

This role is primarily in an office setting.

The employee may be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing, or sitting.

Required Experience:

5+ years’ experience as a senior-level accounting manager

Preferred Experience:

Professional certification, such as CPA (certified public accountant) or CA

Required Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field

Preferred Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field

Professional certification (such as CPA / CA)
