Position Summary:
The Corporate Controller is responsible for the overall accounting and financial reporting of the Company. This position reports directly to the President.
Primary Responsibilities:
Supervise two Staff Accountants whose primary responsibilities include customer billings, accounts payable, job cost reporting and payroll.
Monthly financial statement closing with presentation of the balance sheet, income statement, and work-in-process schedule.
Report monthly financial results to the President, identifying and communicating deviations from the budget and expected results.
Work closely with the executive team on strategic planning. Prepare data, provide insight, present ideas, and give explanations to help improve corporate growth, profitability, and efficiency.
Work with the President to develop the annual budget and periodic forecasts.
Primary contact with the outside CPA firm for the annual review, quarterly shareholder distribution calculations, and periodic income tax payments to various States.
Primary contact with the Bank to provide quarterly financial statements and necessary data to ensure continued availability of credit facilities.
Closely monitor bank account activity to comprehend all transactions and maintain sufficient balances.
Prepare the New York State sales tax return each month. This involves reviewing incoming invoices for proper treatment of sales tax.
Continuous development of policies, procedures, internal controls, and staff cross-training to ensure timely and reliable completion of department duties.
Ad hoc projects as requested.
Be hands-on when necessary to assist or cover for the Staff Accountants.

Communication Skills: Ongoing collaboration with the executive team, accounting staff, administrative staff and project managers.
Qualifications:
BS in Accounting, Finance or Business required.
At least 5 to 7 years of prior accounting experience required, 10+ years preferred.
Prior supervisory experience required.
Construction and/or Contract accounting experience preferred.
