Senior Chemical Process Engineer

Our client is seeking a hands-on Senior Chemical Process Engineer to lead and continuously improve an entire material application process. This is a highly impactful role where engineering expertise meets real-time production needs, with a clear focus on process standardization, optimization, and operational excellence.
Projects You'll Work On
Own and evolve the material mixing, storage, and application production processes with a focus on safety, quality, stability, and throughput
Design and implement standardized processes that drive efficiency and consistency across all production lines
Collaborate on innovative process improvements, including automation of changeovers and conveyor sequencing
Develop and implement a robust preventative maintenance strategy with internal teams and external vendors
Create detailed process documentation: SOPs, Process Flow Diagrams, Control Plans, PFMEAs, and more
Partner with the Quality team to build and maintain comprehensive control plans and define inspection protocols
Utilize real-time SPC tools to monitor performance, detect deviations, and implement corrective actions
Work directly with materials suppliers to understand material characteristics and their influence on production outcomes
Drive root cause analysis efforts and lead continuous improvement projects
Act as the central liaison between the production floor, maintenance, engineering, and external contractors
What Experience You Should Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical preferred), or equivalent experience (8–10 years in a related field)
Proven experience in process engineering within a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably in liquid materials
Solid understanding of Six Sigma, statistical analysis, and process control methodologies
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of identifying and resolving production inefficiencies
Comfortable working hands-on in a unionized production environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to influence across levels and functions
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams without direct authority
