A well-established chemical company is seeking a Product Development Chemist to join its team in Springfield, Oregon. This is a full-time position ideal for someone with strong academic training in chemistry or a related scientific field and hands-on lab experience outside of academia. The right candidate is eager to contribute to product development and grow within a technical, collaborative team.

About the Role:

You'll help develop innovative chemistry-based products (resins) through formulation, testing, and technical problem-solving. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and sales teams, with a strong focus on lab work and continuous learning.

What We're Looking For:

• M.S. in Chemistry preferred

• Candidates with B.S. or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or other related sciences will also be considered

• Must have industrial or applied lab experience (outside of academic research)

• Strong desire to grow technically and take on increased responsibility

Key Responsibilities:

• Formulate and optimize resin products through lab experiments

• Perform synthesis, wet chemistry, and testing procedures

• Support production, development, and technical sales teams

• Maintain accurate lab records and follow safety/environmental policies

• Troubleshoot issues in product development or production

Qualifications:

• Degree in Chemistry or related science (e.g., Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering)

• 2–3 years of non-academic lab experience preferred (M.S. may substitute for 2 years)

• Strong problem-solving and communication skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic statistical tools

• Comfortable working with hazardous materials under safety guidelines

Preferred (Not Required):

• Experience with formaldehyde-based phenolic resins

• Background in composite wood products or resin production processes

• Understanding of experimental design and lab-based project planning
