RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead the design and engineering phases of precast concrete projects, translating architectural and structural plans into detailed production and erection drawings.

Interface across departments, including Sales, Estimating, Project Management, Operations, and external parties (GCs, architects, engineers) to coordinate project deliverables and resolve technical challenges.

Manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing design responsibilities with oversight of drafting and engineering staff (2–4 designers, 1–2 junior engineers).

Direct the engineering package development, including submittal, revision, approval, and final release to both the fabrication plant and field erection teams.

Supervise and mentor less-experienced engineers and designers, checking work for accuracy and providing ongoing technical training.

Lead or participate in field inspections to ensure construction quality, writing observation reports and overseeing field repair recommendations and follow-ups.

Engage in conceptual design efforts when projects lack complete construction documentation.

Collaborate with the Engineering Supervisor to provide technical sales support as required.

Utilize internal or external design resources effectively, self-performing complex tasks when necessary and delegating appropriately.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering

Master’s degree in engineering (preferred and may substitute for one year of experience).

Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

Minimum 6 years of overall engineering experience.

At least 2 years within the precast or related construction industry is preferred.

Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in an engineering/design leadership role preferred.
