Computer Aided Design Technician

We're Hiring: Two CAD Technicians Phoenix, AZ

Location: Phoenix, AZ

Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire (6–12 months)

Our client is expanding their CAD team in Phoenix and actively seeking two early-career CAD Technicians to support major utility projects across the Southwest. If you have 1–3 years of CAD experience and want to grow into a true design role, we want to hear from you!

Open Positions:

1. CAD Technician – Distribution

You’ll work on underground utility design, permitting, base maps, and parcel data for major regional clients like APS and SRP.

Ideal Skills:

AutoCAD and/or MicroStation

Knowledge of permitting across AZ municipalities

Experience with underground utilities or electric distribution

AUD (Automated Utility Design) experience is a big plus

2. CAD Technician – Substation Team

You’ll support physical design and documentation for substations including P&C (Protection & Controls), Civil/Structural.

Ideal Skills:

AutoCAD and/or MicroStation

Exposure to substation design disciplines

Utility or consulting background preferred

What We’re Looking For:

1–3 years of CAD experience (ideally in the utility or infrastructure sectors)

Strong communication and a desire to work closely with engineers

Willingness to grow from a drafter into a full design contributor

Familiarity with local utility clients is a big advantage

Ability to create dynamic blocks or write AutoCAD macros is highly valued
