A mid-sized company in the financial services industry is undergoing a multi-year digital transformation and is seeking a Data Engineering and Reporting Manager to lead and scale its evolving data environment. This individual will play a critical role in transitioning from legacy Oracle-based systems and ClickView reporting to a modern AWS-Redshift and Tableau stack.

This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing both transactional (OLTP) and analytical (OLAP) environments, driving data governance, engineering, and reporting strategy while mentoring a growing team.

Candidates from smaller company environments are highly encouraged to apply—enterprise experience is not required.

Key Responsibilities

Lead data platform architecture and engineering, including secure, governed, and scalable pipelines.

Drive migrations from Oracle to AWS (Redshift, Glue, S3) and from ClickView to Tableau.

Manage and grow a data team (starting with 2 engineers, expanding to 6–8+ over time).

Oversee the transition from transactional OLTP systems to analytical OLAP solutions and data warehousing.

Implement and enforce best practices around ETL design, data modeling, security, and documentation.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritize reporting and analytics requests.

Engage with external consultants and support future onboarding efforts.

Contribute directly to technical implementation while providing leadership and mentorship.

Must-Have Qualifications

Strong hands-on experience with OLTP and OLAP data systems and architecture.

10+ years in data engineering, BI, or analytics-focused roles.

5+ years of team leadership or management experience.

Proficiency in AWS data stack (Glue, Redshift, S3), Tableau, SQL, and modern ETL tools.

Experience working in hybrid (on-prem + cloud) environments.

Solid background in data governance, lineage, and compliance practices.

Preferred Experience

Familiarity with Oracle and PostgreSQL environments.

Experience in financial services, insurance, or other data-driven service industries.

Leading migrations and modernization projects (legacy to cloud).

Managing third-party vendors or consulting partners.

Background in small to mid-sized company settings with ability to wear multiple hats.

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive base salary ranging from $125,000 to $184,000, plus performance-based bonus

401(k) match program to support long-term financial planning

Generous paid time off policy – 30 days annually (includes vacation, sick time, and holidays)

Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance

Supportive work culture focused on healthy work/life balance with minimal to no travel

Hybrid work environment with office based in beautiful Old Town Scottsdale, AZ
