Position Title: Controller

Department: Finance

Location: Santa Ana, CA

FLSA Status: Exempt, Full-Time

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to join our team at Brandywine Communications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management, overseeing accounting functions, and ensuring the smooth implementation and optimization of ERP systems. This role is integral to driving the financial health of the company, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting operational efficiency through technology and data-driven insights.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Oversight & Reporting:

Oversee and manage the company’s accounting operations, including financial statements, general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and tax compliance.

Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.

Lead month-end and year-end closing processes.

Monitor and ensure the company’s compliance with relevant accounting standards, laws, and regulations.

Safeguard company assets through effective financial controls and risk management.

Lead the annual audit process, including coordination with external auditors.

Supervise sales tax and property tax filings, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

ERP Implementation & Optimization:

Lead the implementation of ERP systems (Enterprise Resource Planning), ensuring seamless integration with existing processes.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to configure the ERP system to meet the company’s operational and financial needs.

Analyze system data, identify inefficiencies, and provide continuous improvement strategies for ERP optimization.

Train and support staff on ERP functionalities and best practices to enhance system utilization.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

Develop and manage the company’s annual budget, providing accurate forecasting and analysis.

Work closely with department heads to evaluate performance and identify cost-saving opportunities.

Prepare financial models and projections to guide business decisions and strategy.

Cash Flow Management & Financial Strategy:

Manage cash flow, monitor liquidity, and ensure the availability of funds for business operations.

Analyze financial data and recommend strategies to enhance profitability and reduce financial risk.

Lead financial planning activities, including investments, cost controls, and capital structure management.

Internal Controls & Compliance:

Implement and maintain internal control policies and procedures to safeguard company assets.

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including tax filings and audits.

Liaise with external auditors and ensure timely and accurate audit completion.

Team Leadership & Collaboration:

Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accuracy, and accountability.

Collaborate with operations, production, and IT departments to ensure financial data aligns with manufacturing processes.

Support senior leadership with strategic financial insights and recommendations.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial management, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing environment.

Strong experience in ERP implementation, preferably in a manufacturing or production-based setting.

Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for long periods and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.

Manual dexterity to handle small components and operate equipment.
