What You’ll Do:

Ohio Department of Public Safety – Ohio Narcotics Intelligence Center

Work Hours: 8:00AM to 5:00PM

Report in location: 1970 W. Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43223

This position is open to current Ohio Department of Public Safety employees only. All others will not be considered.

Under general direction from the Project Manager, plan & direct the analysis & production within the Ohio Narcotics Intelligence Center (ONIC) & supervise Public Safety Intelligence Analysts (PSIA), conduct analytical product reviews, & oversee & coordinate policies developed by PSIA's to ensure consistency & efficiency:

• Manage & direct all aspects of investigations &/or criminal offenses occurring on, but not limited to the dark web (e.g., illegal narcotic transactions, cell phone activity, drug trafficking, bulk cash smuggling, drug cartel activity, etc.);

• Oversee formulation & direct implementation of plans, policies, & procedures for analyzing & disseminating of time-sensitive event or disaster information to state, local & federal emergency response, law enforcement & other officials;

• Establish priorities & manage the information & intelligence gathering for situational awareness reports;

• Write & submit reports, bulletins & technical evaluations to leadership & partners in Ohio's public safety communities;

• Oversee & coordinate policies developed to ensure consistency & efficiency;

• Direct, train, & assist staff to successfully coordinate, monitor & evaluate intelligence information;

• Assign tasks relating to suspicious activity & criminal intelligence reporting & follow-up;

• Implement the decisions, directives & policies issued by the Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS) leadership team;

• Make recommendation on courses of action & solution sets for identified problems & disasters;

• Establish priorities & supervise subordinate personnel (e.g., provide developmental opportunities & work direction, coach staff to foster development, monitor staff activities to ensure quality customer service & information technology security, evaluate performance, approve section staffing levels, recommend discipline, pre-screen appl cations & participate in interviews);

• Coordinate planning activities, provide technical support, maintains partnerships, & ensure collaboration & information sharing between state, federal & local emergency management, public safety, & homeland security partners;

• Utilize state vehicle to participate in federal, state, county & local law enforcement taskforces & partnerships;

• Develop & implement all ONIC intelligence production;

• Prepare &/or revise manuals, policies, programs, proposed rules, regulations &/or directives pertaining directly to intelligence unit operations;

• Responsible for auditing & compliance with 28 Code of Federal Regulations (e.g., 28 CFR & all other applicable laws & regulations);

• Attend & coordinate intelligence strategy meetings;

• Brief & provide advice to public officials (e.g., Ohio Department of Public Safety Directors, State HSA, Ohio Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Director);

• Serve as liaison with public & private agencies;

• Receive, collect, review & analyze information data from a variety of public & private sources, field organizations & agencies;

• Recognize patterns of terrorist, emergency management or criminal operations;

• Advise & assist agencies with priority intelligence requirements, target & problem areas;

• Monitor & evaluate the accuracy & reliability of collected information & sources;

• Respond to telephone or written inquires & complaints;

• Serve on committee & prepare speeches;

• Respond to the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during critical incidents;

• Participate in cross-training exercises with homeland security, criminal intelligence & school/government protection entities;

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

48 mos. exp conducting research & writing reports using operational, mathematical, analytical &/or statistical research techniques.

-Or completion of graduate core program in homeland security, political science, criminal justice, emergency management, public health, international affairs or related field; 12 mos. exp. conducting research & writing reports using operational, mathematical, analytical &/or statistical research techniques.

-Or 12 mos. exp. as Public Safety Intelligence Analyst, 64931.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
