Description:

A cutting-edge systematic investment firm is seeking a seasoned engineer to play a key role in the evolution of its trade infrastructure. Built on a foundation of machine learning and data-driven decision-making, the firm manages a diversified global equities portfolio powered by a collaborative research model. This is an opportunity to join a lean, high-impact team reshaping institutional investing with technology at its core.

About the Role

As a Senior Investments Engineer, you’ll operate at the intersection of research, data, and trading infrastructure. You’ll be responsible for designing and scaling mission-critical systems that enable the generation, execution, and monitoring of trades across a range of strategies and counterparties. This is a hands-on engineering position that combines strategic system design with deep collaboration across research, operations, and data teams.

In this role, you’ll be expected to take ownership of major technical initiatives from inception to production. You’ll work alongside other senior engineers to define architecture, enforce engineering best practices, and ensure system resilience. You’ll also contribute to shaping the technical roadmap by translating high-level investment and operational goals into scalable engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the development and ownership of core trade execution and post-trade infrastructure, with a focus on automation, reliability, and real-world edge cases such as corporate actions, market holidays, and short availability.

Build robust integration frameworks for external data sources, brokers, and banks — managing both the initial onboarding and the ongoing operational relationship.

Develop metrics and monitoring tools to assess the performance of internal systems and external partners, helping drive both immediate fixes and long-term improvements.

Collaborate cross-functionally with data scientists, portfolio managers, and finance professionals to align technical development with portfolio needs and business strategy.

Contribute to strategic growth initiatives, including infrastructure to support new trading products or account structures.

Ideal Background

Proven experience building and scaling trading-related systems — front-office, middle-office, or back-office experience all welcome.

Strong understanding of distributed systems, data pipelines, and system resiliency patterns.

Proficiency in writing clear, well-documented code and technical specs. You are comfortable leading reviews and post-mortems.

Demonstrated ability to take ownership of complex systems and see initiatives through from idea to deployment.

A strong interest in quantitative investing, machine learning, or emerging financial technologies.
