The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities by providing personalized support and assistance. Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a caregiving role.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in CPR and First Aid.
Experience with behavior management techniques.
Knowledge of local resources and support services for individuals with disabilities.
Responsibilities:
Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
Develop and implement individualized support plans in collaboration with clients and their families.
Facilitate community engagement by accompanying clients to appointments, social events, and recreational activities.
Monitor and document clients' progress, behaviors, and any changes in their health or well-being.
Provide emotional support and encouragement to clients, fostering a positive and respectful environment.
Skills:
The required skills for this role include strong communication and interpersonal abilities, which are essential for building rapport with clients and their families. Problem-solving skills are utilized daily to address challenges that may arise in client care and to adapt support plans as needed.
