About the Role:
The Mercatus Center at George Mason University seeks a Senior Production and Marketing Associate to join our Production and Marketing Team. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to a high-performing team that drives the Mercatus mission by helping execute digital marketing projects, maintain web content, and produce multimedia assets.
The Senior Production and Marketing Associate will assist with day-to-day website administration and support various web-related projects on Mercatus.org. While prior technical experience is beneficial, we provide training on our specific platforms and tools for candidates with strong aptitude and willingness to learn.
In addition, the Senior Production and Marketing Associate will support podcast production by editing audio and video, creating promotional clips, and tracking analytics. This role also includes collaborating with the social media lead to create engaging digital assets.

Responsibilities:
Website Administration
Assist with routine updates to Mercatus.org (e.g., posting content, editing text, updating images, troubleshooting minor issues)
Support web-related projects and internal stakeholders with website needs
Learn Drupal CMS platform for content management
Create and embed basic data visualizations for web content using tools like Datawrapper
Podcast Production and Promotion
Edit podcast audio and video using tools like Adobe Audition and Adobe Premiere
Clip and format podcast episodes for use on social media
Track and report on podcast performance across platforms (e.g., Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube)
Social Media and Design Support
Collaborate with the social media lead to design digital assets (e.g., quote graphics, carousels, etc.) using Canva and Adobe Creative Suite.
Ensure all assets follow Mercatus brand guidelines and design standards
Contribute creative ideas for engaging content formats
Digital Marketing and Analytics
Support management of Google Ads campaigns by updating ad copy and monitoring performance metrics
Assist with marketing data collection, tracking, and reporting to help evaluate campaign success
Qualifications
Up to 4 years of experience in marketing, communications, web admin or a related field
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities independently
Excellent attention to detail and clear, proactive communication skills (written and verbal)
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
Enthusiasm for learning new tools and technologies
Interest in digital marketing, content creation, and public policy
Preferred
Experience with CMS platforms (e.g., Drupal or WordPress)
Familiarity with graphic design tools such as Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite
Basic experience with video or audio editing software (e.g., Adobe Audition, Adobe Premiere, or similar)
Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS
Experience writing marketing copy
