Freedom Technology Solutions Group is hiring a Junior Software Developer to assist in the new product development of a data lakehouse platform that is intended to facilitate and enhance the discovery, access, use, and sharing of diverse data types across an expanding network of suppliers and consumers. By managing the complete data workflow – ranging from ingestion and enrichment to discovery and dissemination – we believe that data lakehouse-based solutions will be instrumental in enabling AI/ML.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
We are seeking a talented and motivated Junior Software Developer to join our dynamic and growing team. This role provides the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers, leveraging a modern technology stack that includes Oracle, NestJS, Python, Kubernetes, Apache Spark. You will participate in the development, testing and productization of various components of the product architecture integrating relational databases, microservices, cloud services, and containerized applications. Key responsibilities and requirements are outlined below:
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of data ingestion, transformation, and delivery pipelines.
Contribute to backend service development using NestJS (Node.js) and Python.
Support cloud-based workflows leveraging AWS Glue, S3, Lambda, and related AWS services.
Participate in containerization and orchestration efforts using Docker and Kubernetes.
Work with Oracle databases to integrate structured data within pipeline workflows.
Help optimize and troubleshoot pipelines for performance, reliability, and scalability.
Write unit, integration, and system tests to ensure quality of code and functionality.
Collaborate with DevOps engineers to integrate pipelines into CI/CD workflows.
Actively learn and apply new technologies and development best practices.
Requirements
Familiarity with relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.).
Exposure to AWS services (especially Glue, S3, Lambda, or ECS) is a plus.
Understanding of Docker concepts and experience writing or using Dockerfiles.
Basic knowledge of Kubernetes or other container orchestration tools.
Interest or exposure to geospatial data processing (e.g., GIS systems, coordinate systems, KML, shapefiles).
Good problem-solving skills and willingness to learn complex data systems.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented, Agile environment.
Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This role is a foundational hire as we build out a software development and product team.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.
2 - 6 years of experience.
Anticipated Salary Range:
$100k - $150k base salary. Opportunity for performance based bonus. Total compensation pakcage will be commensurate to skillset and experience.
